Canadian Entertainers Dr. Draw and Scott Jackson Are Back For FTEC 2023

We are proud to announce that ‘Dr.’ Eugene Draw (electric violinist) and Scott Jackson (human beatboxer) will be the feature performers at our Saturday, May 27th, 2023 Fight To End Cancer Gala at The Old Mill Toronto. You can see them perform before our co-main and main event fights.

There were a number of factors that sparked Jennifer Huggins to start the Fight To End Cancer (FTEC), the main catalyst being the reality of watching cancer attack a loved one. The story many people don’t know, however, is that she also struggled with a way in which she could bridge the gap between her worlds: the worlds of competitive boxing, life as an entertainer, and her corporate network.  Jennifer found herself frequently hiding at least one area of her life at all times, from performing on some of the grandest stages in the world, to returning to her boxing gym, Kingsway Boxing, in Toronto.

Jennifer began planning a show which would change her life, and the lives of so many worldwide, in 2011. It was her vision to bring the incredible talents from her entertainment life to the boxing ring, where she spent the majority of her time when she was home. FTEC has featured dozens of entertainers, including the magic of Richard Forget, pop sensation Karl Wolf, and various other talented performers since the inaugural event in 2012.  The event has seen hosts such as Ben Mulroney, Steve Patterson, and many of the emcees she’s toured with for years, such as Dick Joiner.

During a Global Legacy Boxing pro boxing show (Official FTEC Ambassadors), Jennifer and Fight Team Director, Virgil Barrow, were introduced to the talents of Dr. Draw AKA Eugene Draw (electric violinist), Scott Jackson (the “Human Beatboxer”). and Jeff Cote (one of Toronto’s most talented drummers).  They knew they needed to welcome the team into the Fight To End Cancer, after one of the most exhilarating performances they had ever witnessed in the ring.

The world grew even smaller when Jennifer reached out to Scott and realized they had recently been featured together in a commercial, which had been recorded at separate locations. The stars literally couldn’t align with more perfection. The team didn’t hesitate for a moment, jumping at the opportunity to support the cause.

“We’ve all lost far too many loved ones to cancer. It’s our responsibility to invest in the future and make a difference where we can! With the support of events like Fight To End Cancer, we are that much closer to seeing the end to this horrible disease. We’re proud to be partnering up with the Fight To End Cancer! We can’t wait to step into the ring to support a cause that affects us all!”

ABOUT EUGENE DRAW

Dr. Draw is known as the first violinist to venture from rock and classical into electronic music culture. His style is difficult to describe as his history with music and culture spans an eccentric lifetime. From playing for royalty in Prague, to creating near chaos at the Toronto Beaches Jazz Festival, to playing luxury brand events like Chloé and Dom Pérignon, Dr. Draw inspires kudos wherever he plays.  Lately, his reputation is growing eastward.  Performances have included playing in Singapore, Taiwan, Sri Lanka, and several Louis Vuitton events in Hong Kong, Malaysia, and South Korea.

Performing in such frenetic locales energizes the performer time and time again, allowing him to repeatedly “creatively interact with cultures all across the world.” The result is a constantly evolving musical style that brings together the seemingly disparate elements of classical violin, jazz-rock fusion, folk, and pop, into a riveting masala that feeds the soul and invigorates audiences.

ABOUT SCOTT JACKSON

In 2008, after travelling to Germany for the World Beatboxing Championships, Scott decided beatboxing needed to become a consistent part of his career. He joined forces with Quincy Mack, Canada’s only professional basketball trickster. Scott created a character named “Jack In The Box” for shows at schools across the Toronto District School Board. He speaks about bullying, following your dreams, and equality during his time with the students. He has visited over 300 schools across Canada and also teaches them they can make a career out of their passion, as he has.
Scott Jackson’s jaw-dropping talent continues to find new outlets. To date, he’s appeared on 88.1, 93.5, 99.9, 102.1, 104.5, 105.5, CFRB 1010, along with CityTV, Toronto’s Got Talent MTV Canada, Global, AUX, and London Tonight with Jeff Leeson. In 2010, he led the crowd at Toronto’s Manifesto to achieve the unofficial world record for the largest beatbox ensemble; he had already achieved the official record at Ryerson University. This leadership speaks to his commitment to teaching. He’s led numerous workshops where he instructs enthusiasts about the art form, as well as performing.
A true master of ceremonies, Scott Jackson’s verbal wizardry is as captivating as it is unusual! With big dreams and an even bigger heart, he’s going where few thought he’d take it.

About The Fight To End Cancer

The Fight To End Cancer (FTEC) is a year-round initiative carried out by ambassadors, sponsors and volunteers worldwide.  Over $2,000,000 has been donated to date, since our inaugural year, in 2012.  Funds raised by FTEC are donated directly to the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation.  Each year we celebrate the incredible hard work and dedication of our FTEC family with a black-tie charity boxing gala.  This gala showcases ten men and women who represent our Official Fight Team.  Our goal is to raise funds for cancer research year-round with the support of the local community and business owners.  Let’s make a difference now in the fight to end cancer, for a long and successful future for everyone.  This is an event like no other and has quickly become one of the most anticipated events in Toronto. www.fighttoendcancer.com
