We’re All Touched By Cancer! Thanks To Mariela Burkett, We’re Knocking Cancer OUT!
Mariela Burkett has been raising funds for Fight To End Cancer with her Survivor Bootcamp’s and Buck-A-Burpee Campaign since 2016. After the COVID19 outbreak in 2020, she had to put her bootcamp on a year-long hold. However, this year, she returned with a bang and did a tremendous job in continuing her efforts to support cancer research, with all funds benefiting the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation.
Survivor Bootcamp 2021 was a day full of laughter, reunions, unity and fun, all while maintaining safety protocols.
We want to thank everyone who came out to participate in the Survivor Bootcamp and sponsored the auctions/raffles and Buck-A-Burpee Campaign. Also, we would like to give a huge shout-out to Mariela Burkett for all of her continuous hard work — We can’t wait for the next one!

Mariela Burkett’s life has been all about momentum, since being declared cancer-free nearly three years ago. Mariela took her commitment to fitness, personal training, and inspiring others to a whole new, epic level, from the moment she reached remission. The result is her now famous Survivor Bootcamp. Part fitness class, part revival and part family reunion, the Survivor Bootcamp is quintessential Mariela: fierce, passionate, challenging and uplifting. The Bootcamp is something that must be experienced to be truly understood and appreciated. This annual event was Mariela’s first campaign to support others fighting cancer, with all proceeds going directly to the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation.
Mariela introduced the Buck-A-Burpee campaign building on her Bootcamp momentum and became an Ambassador for the Fight To End Cancer last year. Leveraging her near obsession with handing out burpees to her students as rewards, the Buck-A-Burpee campaign gives everyone the chance to return the favour of handing out burpees to Mariela, wherever and whenever they may find her. Needless to say, in the past year she has done burpees in some unusual places, and along the way has raised over $20,000 for the Fight To End Cancer. Mariela’s momentum just keeps building as an FTEC Ambassador. She continues to expand her support for cancer research through her introduction of Gear by MarielaFit. Mariela donates a percentage of every sale to the cause, and this latest campaign has already raised another $1000 in the Fight To End Cancer.

Words From Mariela Burkett
This past year has been one of growth. Growth in focus and emotional growth.
My focus in my fight to end cancer is very clear. I had always known that with my personal survivor story, I needed to speak and share with whoever would listen, in hopes that I could spread awareness of the mental struggle associated with a cancer diagnoses and help one person.
This newfound family that took me in as a member, provided me a larger platform to spread my story, to reach more individuals, while at the same time donating my time with my Survivor Bootcamp and money raised to their campaign.
I found purpose and became focused and wanted more.
How else can I help other than my bootcamp? What better way than having anyone I have every coached get back at me with Burpees. For every dollar donated towards my fight to end cancer, I give them 1 burpee. This began the BuckABurpee Campaign.
I have also moved ahead with my Gear By MarielaFit and partnered up with some great organizations and together we donate a percentage of sales towards the fight as well.
I have become more focused!
Emotionally, I have another family. A family that relates and understands with no judgements. A family that I very much needed during diagnoses and surgery. I have experienced what it feels like to be surrounded with a group of passionate individuals that have one common goal: Fighting to End Cancer!
