In a thrilling bout held in Toronto and Mississauga, Amanda kept the championship belts exactly where she wanted them—at home.

Amanda Galle, Canada’s undefeated female boxing sensation, continues to prove why she’s one of the sport’s elite. On December 8th, Amanda successfully defended her IBO World Bantamweight title, pushing her record to an impressive 11-0-1. But Amanda’s fight doesn’t stop at the bell—through her latest fundraising efforts, including two back-to-back KO Cancer Bootcamps, she raised an incredible $3,000 in support of the Fight To End Cancer. Champion in the ring, and a true force for good outside of it.

Reflecting on her journey, Amanda attributes much of her success to the incredible support of her team, particularly Lindsey, her best friend, strength and conditioning coach, and nutritionist. Lindsey, a former 2x world boxing champion and pioneer of the sport, has been instrumental in Amanda’s training for the past four years. This camp, however, marked a new chapter as Amanda fully embraced Lindsey’s expertise in nutrition.

Transitioning to a macronutrient-based diet under Lindsey’s guidance, Amanda found a balanced approach that was both manageable and effective. Adjustments to her protein intake and overall nutrition protocol gave her a stronger, healthier edge. “It’s a new, stronger, healthier me,” Amanda shared. Her dedication to listening and implementing Lindsey’s direction paid dividends in the ring.

Amanda’s opponent in this bout was no stranger; the two had faced off last year in a grueling match. Amanda admitted she initially hesitated to take on the rematch, knowing it would be an even tougher fight the second time around. “Things that may have worked the first time don’t the second time,” she explained.

Despite facing moments of overanalysis and self-reflection during the early rounds, Amanda adjusted her strategy after the first two rounds and delivered a dominant performance from rounds three through ten. Winning by majority decision, she confidently retained her title and undefeated record.

Amanda Galle, Fight To End Cancer Ambassador, participated in an insightful interview with Angie Seth, Anchor-Reporter at CTV News. The discussion centred on Amanda’s recent achievement of securing her inaugural world title and her philanthropic endeavours beyond the boxing arena, particularly in supporting cancer research at The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation.

Before transitioning to the professional arena, Amanda asserted her dominance in the amateur circuit, amassing a remarkable collection of accolades. Her achievements include securing the title of 3-time Canadian National Champion, representing Team Canada in 2014 and 2018, clinching the 4-time Ringside World Boxing Champion title, and earning the prestigious recognition of Boxing Ontario’s 2012 Female Athlete of the Year. This impressive journey underscores Amanda Galle’s unparalleled skill and dedication in the realm of boxing.

Despite the demands of her busy professional boxing career, Amanda Galle seamlessly integrates the Fight To End Cancer into her daily life, demonstrating her ongoing commitment to a fight that has significantly impacted her life.

During Breast Cancer Awareness month, Amanda and her team successfully raised $2,500 for the Fight To End Cancer through their gym’s PINK initiative. As part of this campaign, gym members had the opportunity to contribute by purchasing a pink belt throughout the month, with all proceeds directed to the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation. Amanda’s dedication and passion not only surpassed her initial fundraising goal of $1000 but also served as a source of inspiration, rallying numerous individuals to join her in the ongoing Fight To End Cancer.

This year for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Amanda’s student Ryder, decided to make the fight personal, rallying support and successfully raising over $1400 for the Fight To End Cancer.

“The month of October (Breast Cancer awareness month) is a sentimental time for us here at the Academy. All three instructors lost their mothers to cancer, myself and Reggie Martin to breast cancer and the owner of the academy Vito Brancaccio’s mother  to stomach cancer. So this hits hard for the three of us. We really pushed raising funds as we all know that cancer research and treatment gives those battling so much optimism and hope. First hand I know the importance of that, as me mother would never give up fighting as long as she had treatment available to help her battle. The help of our community did a great job raising the funds and it was truly touching  with all the little karate ninjas wearing their pink belts and not wanting to part with it when October was over.”

Amanda’s impact extends far beyond boxing. In October, during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Amanda and the All Canadian Martial Arts (ACMA) team surpassed their fundraising goal, raising CAD 3,125 for the Fight to End Cancer and The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation. Through initiatives like selling pink belts for $20 each, generously donated by ACMA Director Vito Brancaccio, students and parents rallied behind the cause.

This year’s efforts were particularly inspiring, with students like Ryder setting the bar high by raising $1,000 independently last year. His leadership influenced peers, inspiring another student to follow suit and raise $200 door-to-door. Amanda expressed pride in seeing the younger generation take initiative and make such a positive impact.

Nine years earlier, in October 2013, Amanda’s beloved mother, Nicolina, had been diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer.  Within months of that diagnosis, Nicolina had a mastectomy and 20 lymph nodes removed from her right breast.  After surgery, a serious of debilitating chemotherapy treatments followed. Nicolina faced them all with courage, and unrelenting hope.  Yet her battle with cancer persisted, making even day-to-day activities such as walking  was a real challenge for her.  Every day, Amanda channelled her mother’s tenacity into her training, and her unbroken reign of matches inside the ring.  But tragically, in March 2022, Amanda’s mother’s 8 year battle with cancer came to an end.

Following her win, Amanda presented her belt to her mother, who has always been in her corner.

What motivates Amanda to keep fighting? Her mother!

“My incentive to continue fighting was that my mother was my life, I put her first always, that was part of how I lived!  I needed to continue to have life after her death!”

2022 was Amanda’s most active year in her fighting career, with 4 fights in 13 Months.  Her wins launched her toward becoming the #1 ranked Professional in Canada, and claiming the Canadian super bantamweight title!

“2022 I was truly tested inside and outside the ring, but if I can carry on my mother’s legacy, she was all grit no quit, that is more than enough, so here I am still standing and ready to be more triumphant in 2023. It’s all winning from here!”

Beyond being an incredibly strong individual fighter, Amanda Galle is a proud ambassador of the Fight To End Cancer. She has taken up the collective fight for all those who have suffered from this horrible disease, including her own mother, Nicolina Galle. Amanda has never fallen short in her efforts to raise funds towards cancer research and to advocate for awareness and support for cancer patients.

“When I am asked what the term cancer means to me, I say to you it is responsible for the loss of my loved ones, including my mother.

The term cancer has caused opponents that I have faced to take recognition in defeating me in that ring, but it was not my opponents that beat me, it was the cancer around me.  The support I have extended to my family over and over has consumed so much of me.

The term cancer is the reason I train physically 2- 4 hours every day, to better myself mentally!  I physically fight with my two hands.  Everything my mother had to go through physically, emotionally, and spiritually, that I cannot overcome and fight for her, i put into my fight to end cancer.

So, I do this in honour of her.  I do this to execute the rage I feel.  I do this to be stable enough to endure it all, and most of all I do this in honour of those that it has defeated.”
