Amanda Galle, The New IBO World Champion, Exceeds Fundraising Goals and Gears Up for a Knockout Year in 2024

Amanda Galle stands as Canada’s leading Professional Bantamweight boxer, boasting an undefeated record of 9-0 and presently holding the #1 rank in her division. In a remarkable achievement, Amanda secured her inaugural World Title in the IBO Bantamweight category this year, marking her as the first female to bring home the IBO World Champion Title.

On Sunday, Amanda Galle from Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, secured the IBO Bantamweight World Title by defeating Niorkis Carreno from Trujillo, Venezuela. The bout took place at Rebel Entertainment Complex in Toronto, with Galle emerging victorious by unanimous decision with tallies of 98-92, 97-93, and 96-94. The event was promoted by Lee Baxter Promotions, who co-promotes Galle alongside DiBella Entertainment. With a current record of 9-0-1 (1 KO), Galle showcased her exceptional footwork, angles, and speed to outbox the experienced Carreno, who, with a record of 24-4 (19 KOs), had previously challenged for world titles three times.

“I’m on a mission to be what I am destined to be. On Sunday, I became the new IBO World Bantamweight Champion,” said Galle. “The ultimate goal for me is being the undisputed bantamweight world champion. I am made for this. I am now reaping the rewards for all of my dedication and hard work in boxing for the past 16 years. Everything beforehand prepared me for this moment and whatever is to come ahead.”

Amanda Galle’s Fight To End Cancer.

Amanda is the embodiment of perseverance in the face of unthinkable obstacles.  She achieved her status as an indominable Champion in 2022, the same year that she suffered the most profound personal loss, the loss of her mother.

Nine years earlier, in October 2013, Amanda’s beloved mother, Nicolina, had been diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer.  Within months of that diagnosis, Nicolina had a mastectomy and 20 lymph nodes removed from her right breast.  After surgery, a serious of debilitating chemotherapy treatments followed.   Nicolina faced them all with courage, and unrelenting hope.  Yet her battle with cancer persisted, making even day-to-day activities such as walking  was a real challenge for her.  Every day, Amanda chanelled her mother’s tenacity into her training, and her unbroken reign of matches inside the ring.  But tragically, in March 2022, Amanda’s mother’s 8 year battle with cancer came to an end.

Following her win, Amanda presented her belt to her mother, who has always been in her corner.

What motivates Amanda to keep fighting? Her mother!

“My incentive to continue fighting was that my mother was my life, I put her first always, that was part of how I lived!  I needed to continue to have life after her death!”

2022 was Amanda’s most active year in her fighting career, with 4 fights in 13 Months.  Her wins launched her toward becoming the #1 ranked Professional in Canada, and claiming the Canadian super bantamweight title!

“2022 I was truly tested inside and outside the ring, but if I can carry on my mother’s legacy, she was all grit no quit, that is more than enough, so here I am still standing and ready to be more triumphant in 2023. It’s all winning from here!”

Beyond being an incredibly strong individual fighter, Amanda Galle is a proud ambassador of the Fight To End Cancer. She has taken up the collective fight for all those who have suffered from this horrible disease, including her own mother, Nicolina Galle. Amanda has never fallen short in her efforts to raise funds towards cancer research and to advocate for awareness and support for cancer patients.

“When I am asked what the term cancer means to me, I say to you it is responsible for the loss of my loved ones, including my mother.

The term cancer has caused opponents that I have faced to take recognition in defeating me in that ring, but it was not my opponents that beat me, it was the cancer around me.  The support I have extended to my family over and over has consumed so much of me.

The term cancer is the reason I train physically 2- 4 hours every day, to better myself mentally!  I physically fight with my two hands.  Everything my mother had to go through physically, emotionally, and spiritually, that I cannot overcome and fight for her, i put into my fight to end cancer.

So, I do this in honour of her.  I do this to execute the rage I feel.  I do this to be stable enough to endure it all, and most of all I do this in honour of those that it has defeated.”
