FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE — TORONTO, ON. The Fight To End Cancer (FTEC) 9th Annual Fight To End Cancer Charity Black Tie Gala, benefiting the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation is a must attend event, hosted at The Historic Old Mill Toronto, on Saturday May 30, 2020.
The FTEC 2020 Fight Team is dedicating SIX MONTHS of their already busy lives to transform into fierce fighting machines all of who are hungry for victory in their sanctioned bouts. This unyielding commitment culminates at the FTEC Gala when they step into the ring to prove their mettle and thrill the crowd. Angie Seth, Anchor and Reporter with the CTV News Channel, will guide you through this incredible experience as Emcee for the evening’s events.
The FTEC Fight Team, in concert with our presenting partners Landscape Plus Ltd. and Grafton Apparel Ltd., are working to make FTEC history by reaching the $2 million dollars in total funds raised. Be a part of history and Join The Fight!
The FTEC ring will feature five incredible bouts on Gala night, giving all 10 FTEC2020 fighters the opportunity to showcase the boxing skills they have developed through their devoted training. These heroes have not only put in countless hours at the gym, they have also been incredibly dedicated raising funds and awareness in support of The Princess Margaret Cancer Centre.
Grafton Apparel’s own, Elissa Herrington, will be stepping through the ropes as she attempts to school Paula Higgins in the intricacies of pugilism! Higgins is the latest in a long line of fighters from Eagle Professional Resources and promises not to yield. These independent and successful fighters are relishing their roles as agents for change in the FIGHT TO END CANCER as they cash in months of hard training for research dollars.
Another of our 5 fights features Mike Forshee and Scott Selland, who have a natural professional rivalry that has translated into the ring! A Realtor and a Mortgage Man, these two successful professionals will be hammering cancer with each punch they trade, raising the excitement of the crowd and research dollars at the same time.
The fight card includes three other fights which promise to be equally as thrilling, as each fighter does their level best to showcase boxing and their mastery of the squared circle. All of our incredible fighters share the goal of delivering cancer the knockout punch. Join the fight and be part of making the difference. Help take Cancer on the mat!
Official FTEC national ambassadors, Grafton Apparel, have raised nearly $500,000 to date through over 100 stores across Canada, including Tip Top Tailors, George Richards, Mr. Big & Tall and Kingsport. This year, they hope to raise $250,000 in additional donations with their “Wear Your Support” Campaign – featuring exclusive FTEC tie-clips – available in all Grafton Apparel stores across Canada, following the 2020 Gala throughout June.
Jennifer Huggins, FTEC founder and CEO, keeps the team on track, along with her partner in crime and Official FTEC Team Head Coach and Director, Virgil Barrow. The duo inspires those who are fortunate enough to step into the ring, with their unwavering commitment to the cause and the Fight Team. Jennifer maintains a very busy schedule, in addition to being the driving force and visionary behind the Fight To End Cancer. She is a globally recognized ambassador for the sport, a 3-Star boxing Referee and Judge with AIBA International Boxing Association and she was recently elected as the President of Boxing Ontario.
“The reality of what the Fight To End Cancer represents is bittersweet. Something that threatens to tear our lives apart has brought so many people together. Nine years ago, I started this event to give back to the community. The Fight To End Cancer has since become a community in itself; a family working together towards one goal. My vision evolved from being a fundraiser, to becoming a global movement that we are all part of. We are fighting for a future free of cancer, and we will succeed.”
