Julia Siegal

September 10, 2019 - 9:28 pm

I’m honoured to be fighting alongside my husband Josh Siegal in the 2020 Fight To End Cancer. I fight for his Grandmother Roz, and for my friends and family that are scared to have kids because cancer runs in their family. Wonderful, incredible people are lost to this horrible disease every day, and if I can do even a little bit to help bring us closer to eradicating it, that would be an awesome feeling.

I’m sincerely humbled and honoured to be a part of the 2020 Fight to End Cancer (FTEC) team. I first learned about the FTEC a few years ago. Immediately, the words challenge, sacrifice, commitment, and strength came to mind. I knew I wanted to be a part of it. Cancer plagues us all. If you’re lucky enough not to have lost a family member or close friend to cancer it doesn’t mean you haven’t been affected. It doesn’t mean you’re in the clear. It doesn’t mean you haven’t shed a tear, been at a loss for words, or truly grasped the feeling of helplessness when this disease unfairly...

Over the coming months, I have committed to a training program, which will conclude in a boxing match set to take place on Saturday, June 1, 2019. I am sorry to say that I've encountered cancer way too many times in my life. Fortunate that it hasn't effected me personally, but unfortunate that it's effected loved ones around me. Proud of my daughter Selen who beat Leukemia and father Turkay who defeated lung cancer and is now doing well with his fight against prostate cancer. Having said which, not all of my loved ones were so fortunate. Despite their brave efforts my god-daughter Kayden lost her battle to neuroblastoma at the age of 9 and my cousin Lynda was taken by cervical cancer at the age of 29. Having carried both on my shoulders...

I am participating in the 7th annual Fight To End Cancer in support of The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation. I am raising research dollars with a vision of reaching a goal we all share - To Conquer Cancer In Our Lifetime! Unfortunately, members of my family have been touched by cancer. In 2013, my father was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. Thankfully, the doctors were able to have it removed and he has since been in remission. My uncle Harry, unfortunately lost his battle to cancer in July of 2016 after he was diagnosed with brain cancer. My uncle was a remarkable man, who was incredibly gifted...

Hello Friends, Family and Supporters, Starting January 2017, I will be spending 6 months training and raising money in support of The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation by participating in the 6th Annual Fight to End Cancer charity boxing event. Every day, we are all affected by cancer in some way. Whether it's a close friend or family member, or an acquaintance in our lives, we all have to face the wrenching effects of cancer - but that doesn't mean we have to face it alone. With your donations and support I'm committed to reaching my goal of $20,000, but your dollars and efforts aren't...

Brandon Glynn

August 18, 2016 - 4:28 pm

My name is Brandon Glynn, and I could not feel more honoured to be selected to represent and support The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation in its 6th annual Fight to End Cancer. Like so many, my life, and that of my family's, have been directly affected by cancer. Sadly, we can all share stories of how our lives have been impacted, but with ongoing research and support like what is offered to patients by Princess Margaret Hospital, I believe we can achieve the ultimate goal of finding a cure. To do this, they need assistance in raising both awareness and money. Taking part in this is the...

Dear Friends and Family I am participating in the 5th Annual Fight to End Cancer in support of The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation. I am raising research dollars - with a vision of reaching the ultimate goal - To Conquer Cancer In Our Lifetime! The introductory class was enough to suck me in to the world of boxing. The challenge of the sport was something I quickly gained an appreciation for. Since then it has been a goal of mine to train and fight in an amateur bout at least once in my life. When I found out about the Fight to End Cancer charity event, it definitely spoke out to...

Dear Friends and Family If you don't change the times, you'll be changed by them. Change is always worth fighting for. I'm participating in the 5th Annual Fight to End Cancer in support of The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation. The FTEC team is committed to raising research dollars to help in the fight to change how cancer affects the lives of those it touches. Basically, we're trying to knock it the hell out. One little push, one little punch at a time. Please help me in reaching my goal. It would be a very much appreciated step towards change. And in this fight, trust me, no...

I’ll never forget sitting down with my family for the news. A family friend was diagnosed with breast cancer and although there were reasons to be optimistic she had a battle ahead. So much runs through your mind. Is this real? Why is this happening and can it be stopped? How can I help? The answers to these questions didn’t bring much comfort. Cancer is very real and affects millions of lives; I certainly wasn't the only one who received such news that day. Many of the causes or means of prevention are yet to be discovered, let alone viable cures that don’t require invasive surgery or harmful...

I had the pleasure of attending the Fight to End Cancer Gala in 2014.  The room was filled with excitement and energy for a great cause.   This was the trigger point for me.  I wanted to take on the personal challenge and do my part with your support and contribute as much as I can and Fight to End Cancer. I am not a boxer, and I never in this lifetime would have imagined I would step into the ring for a live fight... Here we go! This fight for me is personal.  I lost my Mum to cancer 5yrs ago.   She was a determined and strong woman.  After finding out she had a brain tumour she...

Daniel Ross

January 9, 2015 - 10:50 am

Daniel Ross started boxing in 2011. He had been training for competition consistently, but accepted his Fight For Cancer bout with 3-4 hours notice, after another athlete was unable to compete. He has a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and works for an events company. Fight to End Cancer was a meaningful event for Daniel to participate in, in part due to seeing his grandfather diagnosed with skin cancer when Daniel was young. Since the inaugural Fight to End Cancer bouts occurred, his paternal grandfather and grandmother have died from Leukaemia and lung cancer. Daniel maintains that the...

"I would like to dedicate this fight to all those who have cancer and in particular to Silvana Tedesco who has been a brave survivor these last two years. Her ability to cope and remain positive throughout has been an inspiration to me. The fight for the cure is one we all must participate in together. Although all of us aren't scientists or doctors who can directly participate in the discovery of a cure, we all can pitch in with what we know best to help push the ball forward for an eventual resolution of this illness. As an accountant and a competitive boxer, I would like to help raise support...

"I am participating in the Fight to End Cancer because I strongly believe in the values it embraces of competition and athleticism but also its commitment to end cancer. The Fight to End Cancer is not only an effort to fund research it is a commitment to ending a disease, saving lives and families." - Robert McGlashan

Life can change in the blink of an eye. It is far too easy to get wrapped up in the daily grind and take health, wellness, and the fragility of life itself for granted. I have experienced the devastating effects of cancer first hand with my family and friends. I'm fighting because I am still able to, and I'm fighting for those who no longer can. Never give up the fight. – Christopher Atkins

The Fight To End Cancer is important me to for the way in which the disease has touched both my family and many other families in such a scary way. My Uncle Brian was a young man by today’s standards when esophageal cancer took his life. Both his brother and other family members have been diagnosed with a condition which can very often lead to this same cancer. Every dollar that can be raised in efforts to contribute to research and early detection means a lot to me. Both my Father and my Father in law have won their battles with Cancer and I Intend to win this small fight in support of their...
