Sean Lawler is a veteran lawyer who is used to courtroom battles, but as an FTEC 2018 fighter, he’s training for a far more personal fight.  Sean has literally picked a fight with cancer, to honour his beloved mother who was swiftly and tragically taken by the disease in 2012.  Sean’s goal is to raise $20,000 for cancer research, to offer hope for other families, so that they don’t have to go through what his did.

“My mom was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in January, 2012.  By then it was too late to reverse the disease.  My parents could only hope that the doctors would slow its spread.  The chemotherapy treatments were torture for my mom, who suffered despite the excellent care she received.  Mom died on October 5, 2012.

Cancer took my Mom when she was 71.  She led a healthy lifestyle, she had no other illnesses, and the women in her family were long-lived.  The diagnosis and the illness baffled and terrified my parents and everyone else in my family.  The doctors and nurses who helped my mom were great, but they were powerless to stop this terrible, mysterious disease.

I am participating in the 7th Annual Fight To End Cancer, to raise $20,000, to support research at The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation.  I don’t want other families to go through what mine did.  Please support me.  I am picking a fight with cancer but I need your help.”

ABOUT FIGHT TO END CANCER

Founded in 2011, the Fight To End Cancer has donated over $750,000.00, in support of cancer research, with proceeds going directly to the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation.
The year-long fundraising efforts of the Fight To End Cancer are celebrated each year in an event like no other.  Featuring a new group of white-collar men and women, with no prior boxing experience, Fight To End Cancer’s annual black tie gala concludes months of their intense training, in a sanctioned Olympic-style boxing event.
Fight To End Cancer has quickly grown to become a premium fundraiser and showcases these brave individuals, as they lace up their gloves and step into our ring to help knock out cancer.
