Heather MacDonald endured the agony of watching her father endure a two-year battle with soft-tissue sarcoma, which ended with his untimely passing in 2009. Heather says her Dad fought harder than she knew was ‘humanly possible’. Now it’s Heather’s turn to mirror her father’s strength and determination, as she steps into the ring as a 2018 FTEC fighter.
“This month will mark 8 years since we lost my Dad to dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans – an extremely rare form of cancer. It was unexpected, untreatable and slowly took over the man that all his friends, family, colleagues and clients knew. This date brings back the best memories of the father I loved so much, but also the worst memories of watching him suffer an immense amount of pain. My hope is that this event will help put an end to more families having to endure this unwanted anniversary.
I am really excited to be on this journey and to feel such support from an amazing group of “fighters” – each with their own story and reason for fighting. I don’t think you ever really get over the loss of someone you love but NOW is the time I can do something about it – to raise money, to recover and get stronger.
Some would say that cancer makes you weak. I disagree. I think that cancer makes you strong.

ABOUT FIGHT TO END CANCER
Founded in 2011, the Fight To End Cancer has donated over $750,000.00, in support of cancer research, with proceeds going directly to the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation.
The year-long fundraising efforts of the Fight To End Cancer are celebrated each year in an event like no other. Featuring a new group of white-collar men and women, with no prior boxing experience, Fight To End Cancer’s annual black tie gala concludes months of their intense training, in a sanctioned Olympic-style boxing event.
Fight To End Cancer has quickly grown to become a premium fundraiser and showcases these brave individuals, as they lace up their gloves and step into our ring to help knock out cancer.
