Next up in our Featured Fighter series, is our Bout 2 competitor Michael ‘The Magic’ Sinanan! Michael is a freelance designer and runs his own agency, Brainmetal Designs. He is being sponsored by our long-time supporter and the Gala venue, The Old Mill Toronto.
Michael went on a hunt for ways to get involved with the fight against cancer, after learning of a friends experience with ovarian cancer.
“The story she shared with me is something I could not even imagine. I listened and was filled with a great sadness… but embraced my responsibility as a friend to be nothing but supportive. That she had to go through this was tying my stomach in knots. Picturing your life without certain people being in it is a dreadful thought.”
The Fight To End Cancer, founded in 2011 has raised over $500,000 to date, in support of cancer research. All proceeds go directly to the Princess Margaret Urgent Cancer Priorities Fund at the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation. Michael is looking to add another $10,000 to that fundraising total! How’s your training going so far? Any surprises?
“Training thus far is going as expected. The weight is starting to drop; the cardio is picking up!”
Tell us about your fight dedication.
“I’ve dedicated my Fight To End Cancer to all survivors. To those friends that have fought their own battle. For the ones who bring a joy into your life you never expected and force you beyond your comfort zone. A shoulder to lean on and a kick in the ass when required. They inspire you to take action and risk bigger than you ever thought possible, without them knowing.
To those who teach us to press on no matter what; to embrace life and always move forward. And to always be – a fighter.”
