The Fight To End Cancer (FTEC) Official Media Day Weigh-Ins delivered an unforgettable evening, bringing together sponsors, supporters, and fighters for a powerful celebration ahead of this year’s main event.

Held in support of The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation, the evening was a true showcase of community, purpose, and heart. FTEC fighters didn’t just weigh in — they stepped up as ambassadors for the cause, rallying the crowd, sharing their deeply personal reasons for entering the ring, and igniting a collective drive to finish the fight against cancer.

Thursday night, the newly opened, state-of-the-art Kingsway Boxing Club was transformed into an entertainment oasis, featuring dynamic lighting, music, and immersive experiences that blended sport, art, and philanthropy under one roof.

Guests were treated to a vibrant lineup of experiences, including custom keepsakes from Citrus Silver, knockout treats from Fabs Donuts, wellness activations by Stretch Health, and the generous support of SSKN Firm, who not only delivered wellness demos but also powered our official Photo Booth — allowing guests to take home tangible memories from the night. The Tattour made a lasting impression, with several guests proudly receiving fresh tattoos of the FTEC mantra, “Defeat Is Not An Option.”

Looking ahead to Fight Night on May 31, the weigh-in event teased the world-class performances to come — including a special appearance by internationally renowned electric violinist Dr. Draw, the awe-inspiring talents of Arestov’s Acrobatic Extravaganza, and captivating features by Maeve Beck and our ballerina Alena.

The excitement soared during the Live Auction, presented by Air Canada, featuring a show-stopping prize: a pair of BUSINESS CLASS tickets to any destination Air Canada flies, valued at $20,000.

ROAM, our 50/50 partner, raised the stakes even further with a luxury vehicle subscription giveaway.

Meanwhile, Dr. Irish and the GTx team from The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation inspired attendees by sharing the real-world impact that FTEC funding continues to have on groundbreaking cancer research and patient care.

The evening also featured heartfelt remarks from long-standing partners and community leaders Walder Amaya, APEX, and Jim Mosher of Landscape Plus, each echoing the importance of unity, purpose, and impact.

Guiding the night’s energy were two standout hosts: Virgil Barrow, Fight Team Head Coach and magnetic MC, and the legendary Barry “The Bad Boy” Pletch, who flew in from Australia to lend his signature voice and support to the cause.

As May 31 draws near, the message is clear: the fight is far from over — and this community is ready to rise, rally, and make history in the ring and beyond.

With your continued support, we’re striving to reach a monumental milestone: raising our total contributions to over $4 million in support of The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation. Together, we’re not just fighting — we’re fighting to end cancer, once and for all.

About The Fight To End Cancer
The Fight To End Cancer (FTEC) is a year-round initiative driven by ambassadors, sponsors, and volunteers worldwide. Since our inception in 2012, we have donated over $3 million to the cause. Funds raised by FTEC go directly to the GTX Program at The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation. Each year, we honour the hard work and dedication of our FTEC family through alternating events: a black-tie charity boxing gala and our newest initiative, The Friday Night Fights ‘To End Cancer’. Our mission is to raise funds for cancer research year-round with the support of the local community and business owners. Together, we will end cancer in our lifetime.
