My mom was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in January, 2012. By then it was too late to reverse the disease. My parents could only hope that the doctors would slow its spread. The chemotherapy treatments were torture for my mom who suffered despite the excellent care she received. Mom died on October 5, 2012. Cancer took my Mom when she was 71. She led a healthy lifestyle, she had no other illnesses, and the women in her family were long-lived. The diagnosis and the illness baffled and terrified my parents and everyone else in my family. The doctors and nurses who helped my mom were great, but...

I am honored to announce that I have been chosen to be one of the ten fighters on The Fight To End Cancer 2018 team, in support of The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation. For the next six months I will be trained by professional boxing coaches who will push me to my limits both physically and mentally, so I will be ready to "Kick Cancer in the Butt" when I enter the boxing ring on June 2nd. Unfortunately, like most people, I have been affected by this disease personally. I have lost many loved ones including dear friends and family members and that is why this fundraising event is so important...

On Setember 21, 2007 my Dad was diagnosed with a malignant soft tissue sarcoma. I watched him battle this awful disease for over 2 years before passing away in 2009. My Dad faught harder than I ever knew was humanly possible. I'm fighting in honour of my him, and anyone else that is currently battling Cancer. I am proud to be part of the official FTEC2018 Fight Team competing in the 7th annual Fight To End Cancer in support of The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation. I am raising research dollars with a vision of reaching a goal we all share - To Conquer Cancer In Our Lifetime! Please...

I am participating in the 7th annual Fight To End Cancer in support of The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation. I am raising research dollars with a vision of reaching a goal we all share - To Conquer Cancer In Our Lifetime! Unfortunately, members of my family have been touched by cancer. In 2013, my father was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. Thankfully, the doctors were able to have it removed and he has since been in remission. My uncle Harry, unfortunately lost his battle to cancer in July of 2016 after he was diagnosed with brain cancer. My uncle was a remarkable man, who was incredibly gifted...

My mother-in-law recently fought and beat leukemia.  One of my oldest and dearest friends has battled cancer multiple times.  They faced this epic challenge with bravery, courage, and strength, and won with the support of the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation, and the incredible work that this organization does every day. I've watched and supported the FTEC from arm's length for several years now but I've realized that it's time for me to step up and get in the ring.  I have always been relatively healthy, so I'm in a position where I can fight to make a difference since so many people...

Cancer! They say it affects every family in some way, here is my story: I remember being in elementary school and my older brother called out to me and said, "Hey, you have to come watch this guy". The "guy" he was referring to was 'Iron Mike Tyson', I watched that fight and was hooked. My brother and I must of watched hundreds of fights together after that, it was one of our favorite pastimes, that and playing Fight Night on Xbox , yes he introduced me to video games too and all other cool things life had to offer. My older brother, is the best definition of a loving sibling that anyone...

After attending this event two years ago and watching my friend in the ring, I decided to try out for the team.  Unfortunately, I was not selected for the 2017 fight team but was fortunate enough to be selected as part of the FTEC2018 team and this year it means a lot more. We have all been touched by this horrible disease and unfortunately, most of the time we sit back hopelessly, while our friends and loved ones suffer and this year my participation means a lot more as it has hit closer to home. As a selected member of the FTEC2018 fight team, my goal is to raise money and awareness for...

On Saturday, June 2, 2018, I will be stepping out of my comfort zone and into a ring to compete in a charity boxing match in support of the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation. Fight to End Cancer is an event unlike any other.  Myself, along with my #FTEC2018 teammates, will commit endless hours and energy for the next seven months to train as amateur boxers for this life-changing event. So in June 2018, I will be putting on my boxing gloves and stepping into the ring to FIGHT BACK against cancer. I have a very personal interest in the goal of this event, having lost my father to cancer...

I am beyond thrilled that I’ve been selected to be part of #FTEC2018’s fight team. I will be spending the next 7 months training with 9 other ‘non-boxing professionals’ – and on June 2, 2018 I will be stepping into the ring to ‘literally’ fight to end cancer. In June of 2016, my mother Iris Collins – one of the most vibrant, healthy, amazing and giving people I have ever known - was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, and within 10 weeks she was gone.  I am fighting for her – as well as for the countless others I know who have been impacted by this terrible disease. Anyone...
