My mother-in-law recently fought and beat leukemia.  One of my oldest and dearest friends has battled cancer multiple times.  They faced this epic challenge with bravery, courage, and strength, and won with the support of the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation, and the incredible work that this organization does every day. I've watched and supported the FTEC from arm's length for several years now but I've realized that it's time for me to step up and get in the ring.  I have always been relatively healthy, so I'm in a position where I can fight to make a difference since so many people...

Cancer! They say it affects every family in some way, here is my story: I remember being in elementary school and my older brother called out to me and said, "Hey, you have to come watch this guy". The "guy" he was referring to was 'Iron Mike Tyson', I watched that fight and was hooked. My brother and I must of watched hundreds of fights together after that, it was one of our favorite pastimes, that and playing Fight Night on Xbox , yes he introduced me to video games too and all other cool things life had to offer. My older brother, is the best definition of a loving sibling that anyone...

Randy Woods

August 18, 2016 - 5:19 pm

Mark Lockhart.  That’s the latest name I’m putting on the face of cancer. He died last year after a one-year battle with cancer at the age of 47.  His death affected a whole community. He was a single father of 2 boys.  And a lifelong friend to those lucky enough to have been part of his life. Mark is, unfortunately, only the most recent in a too-long list of cancer victims.  When I asked friends and colleagues how cancer had touched them, every single person had a story. Some tragic, some inspiring- all deeply felt.  That’s why I’m participating in the 6th Annual Fight to End...

To my Friends, Family and Colleagues, I am deeply honored to announce that I have been selected to fight in the 2017 Fight to End Cancer in support of The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation. While my participation in this event includes training and boxing, more importantly I will be actively and persistently raising funds for cancer research. The ultimate goal of this venture is To Conquer Cancer In Our Lifetime! When I step into the ring on May 27, 2017 I will be fighting in the memory of Dr. Lionel Everett Mcleod. Dr. Mcleod was not only a medical researcher of world renown, a Markle Scholar...

CORY RAYMOND

October 29, 2015 - 8:44 pm

Hello Friends and Family! I am joining the "Fight to end Cancer" June 4th 2016, I will be stepping in the ring to fight on behalf of the ultimate goal of ending cancer by raising money for the research of it! I am still amazed at the gross impact of this disease on a day to day basis and frustrated by its reach! I am fighting because I can, because the last plug I want to see pulled is on cancer! Not a dying relative or friend! I am proud to be part of this campaign and though I realize alone I can’t end cancer,  together with the team I have joined we can definitely provide a positive impact...

To My Friends And Family, I am participating in the 5th Annual Fight to End Cancer in support of The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation. I am raising research dollars - with a vision of reaching the ultimate goal - To Conquer Cancer In Our Lifetime! Throughout every stage of my life someone I have known and loved has been taken by cancer, from school chums to family members to colleagues and friends. Two years ago I lost my hero and mentor, August Schellenberg, to lung cancer. In 2012 I got the opportunity to work with him and at 75 he could still throw his punches with lightning speed...

Jason Brydges

January 27, 2015 - 3:48 pm

My name is Jason Brydges and I’m honored to be participating in the 4th annual Fight to End Cancer for the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation. Like so many, my life, and that of my family, has been directly affected by cancer. A number of years ago I lost both my grandfathers to pancreatic cancer and more recently watched my mother fight, and ultimately beat, her cancer with the help of Princess Margaret Hospital. Additionally, my wife lost a friend to cervical cancer when she was only 28. Sadly, we could all share stories of how our lives have been impacted, but with ongoing research and...

January 27, 2015 - 3:43 pm

I am joining the Fight to End Cancer. Literally. On Saturday May 30st of this year, I'll be doing as much as I can to help the fight against cancer. And I'll be doing it from a place I've never been before in my life - a boxing ring! Thus far in my life I've been lucky enough that my immediate family has not had to deal with cancer. But that certainly doesn't mean I'm oblivious to the effects it has on people and their families. I've seen friends, colleagues, and acquaintances all deal with their own battles against cancer; some winning while others sadly losing. And I know one thing...

Virgil Barrow

January 9, 2015 - 10:48 am

"There is no escaping the hard truth that cancer touches all of us in some way. It stocks our families and robs life from those we love. I have personally seen and felt the pain that friends and clients have courageously faced in their battles. It is for them, and in the memory of others that have passed on, that I proudly Fight To End Cancer." – Virgil Barrow

Andreas Tsagarelis

January 9, 2015 - 10:47 am

"I as well, like all the fighters participating, personally know close friends and family that have battled many different forms of cancer, some with heroic outcomes, and others devastating. The one thing I have noticed all fights with cancer have in common though is that they all end in tears. My “Fight to End Cancer” is to make a difference so that the tears shed in all future fights, are only those of sheer joy, happiness, and relief. FIGHT WITH US!" – Andreas Tsagarelis

December 30, 2014 - 1:08 pm

This event is something that is close to my heart. For the past 15 years I volunteer every Friday on the Oncology unit at Sick Kids. I have seen way to many young precious lives lost to Cancer. Some of these kids fought harder then anything I have had to. I am fighting for the many who didn’t make it, and the many who are still fighting. Together we will fight until a cure is found!! - Mitch Krystantos

Simon Miller

December 30, 2014 - 1:06 pm

Cancer can be beaten; I’ve seen it first hand with my father in law (prostate cancer) an important role model (Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia), a co-worker (breast cancer), a neighbor and long term friend. I’ve also seen how it can impact a family when cancer wins, including my wife’s family and a former neighbor. By participating in this event I can not only support those I know, I can support the entire team’s fundraising effort to support such a great cause. - Simon Miller
