I am participating in the 8th annual Fight To End Cancer in support of The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation. I will be training for 7 months to be ready to step in the ring on June 1, 2018 for an Olympic Sanctioned Boxing Match. As part of My Fight I am raising research dollars with a vision of reaching a goal we all share – To Conquer Cancer In Our Lifetime!
Currently, cancer is the leading cause of death among Canadians, and it is estimated that 1 in 2 Canadians are expected to be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. It is projected that by 2030 the number of cancers diagnosed will be almost 80% greater than the number diagnosed in 2005.
Today, I ask that you take a moment and sponsor me and support my hard work. Greater than my goal to succeed in the ring, is to beat my fundraising goal of $25,000. My family has been touched by cancer too many times and with your help, I can reach my goal and we can make a difference. There is strength in numbers and we can all do our part in this fight!
Thank you so much for your support!

Cancer, this is a disease that will one day affect every single person on this planet. It may not affect everyone directly, but certainly indirectly. I was only 6 years old when my best friend’s father lost his life to brain cancer. At the time I had no idea what this thing called cancer was. I am now 36 years old and have witnessed numerous losses in my life to cancer.
I never had the great honour of meeting my father-in-law, Adam. In 2007 he lost his life to Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, he was only 52. No wife or daughter should ever have to endure such a tremendous loss. His memory has lived on in his beautiful wife and two incredible daughters. It’s through their memories and stories shared around the dinner table that has given me the great pride to feel like I know the type of father Adam was to my beautiful wife.
For these reasons, I’ve decided to take my fight to the ring and I am participating in the 8th annual Fight To End Cancer in support of the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation. A truly unique and life-changing experience. I will commit to a 7 month training regimen which will conclude in a boxing match set to take place June 1st of 2019. I am raising research dollars with the vision of reaching a goal we all share – To Conquer Cancer in Our Lifetime!
Your contributions to my goal is greatly appreciated. Just by visiting this page tells that you have a connection to the cause we are all fighting for. Please support my journey and my fellow #FTEC fighters as we all step into the ring on June 1st, to fight the fight to end cancer in our lifetime.
The Princess Margaret is one of the top 5 cancer research centres in the world – when we train scientists and researchers at The Princess Margaret, they share and train colleagues all over the world.
With your help, I hope to reach my fundraising goal and make a difference.
Thank you so much for your support!

Anyone who knows me, understands that I’m not one for standing idle and watching things happen around me. That faith and compassion compels me to help those in need and care for everything and everyone, especially those less fortunate. I believe that if we all make an effort, we can affect change and make a difference. Yet, as I write this I’m reminded time after time of a feeling of fear and helplessness each and every time someone I loved and cared for told me they had cancer. Can’t even imagine how they must have felt being told they have it.
To make it real, I started writing a list of all the people I knew that had it; Grandfather, Dad, uncle, cousin, friends, colleagues. The list was longer than I expected, even more shocking was the number of people who died from it. Every time I heard someone near to me had it, I prayed and cried and wished for a cure. I realize now I don’t need a wish bone but a back bone. So I am fighting back. I can’t bring back my dad, uncle and grandfather but I can do my part to try to stop the list from getting longer.
I have seen first-hand how lives are lengthened because of advancements in cancer treatments and I want to give my energy and power to that storyline. So, I am asking for your help and donate to this worthy cause to help achieve my goal of $10,000.00 by fight night. #FTEC2019

Hello Friends, Family and Supporters,
Those of you who me know that I love to take on any physical challenge. Its always been on my bucket list to step into the boxing ring and do an amateur fight. This is about to get very real. However, this fight isn’t about me. I will be fighting for everyone who has been touched by cancer, and who are in a fight for their life every minute and every second of their day.
Unfortunately, Cancer Does Not Discriminate, and in one form or another, we have all been affected by it. I will be right there fighting along side those fighting for hope, strength and healing. Although the next 7 months of training will be tough, physically and mentally, that doesn’t compare to what others have endured in their own battle with cancer demanding every second, of every day.
I’m committed to fighting the fight with you and being in your corner as we get one step closer to conquering cancer in our lifetime. We will kick cancer down
I’m deeply honored and humbled to be participating in the 8th annual Fight to End Cancer in support of The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation.

I am sorry to say that I’ve encountered cancer way too many times in my life. Fortunate that it hasn’t effected me personally, but unfortunate that it’s effected loved ones around me. Proud of my daughter Selen who beat Leukemia and father Turkay who defeated lung cancer and is now doing well with his fight against prostate cancer. Having said which, not all of my loved ones were so fortunate. Despite their brave efforts my god-daughter Kayden lost her battle to neuroblastoma at the age of 9 and my cousin Lynda was taken by cervical cancer at the age of 29. Having carried both on my shoulders to their final resting place, I owe it to these two wonderful souls to try and make a difference.
For these reasons, I’ve decided to take my fight to the ring and am participating in the 8th annual Fight To End Cancer in support of the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation. On June 1, 2019, I will step into the ring for the first time at the 8th annual Fight to End Cancer, in support of the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation.
Like many of you, cancer has touched my life in many ways. My grandmother successfully battled breast cancer, while my grandfather unfortunately lost his fight with melanoma. My husband fights cancer every day as a researcher and I can attest to the countless hours that researchers spend trying to answer the most difficult questions. These are the people that I will be fighting for on June 1st.
The question that patients and researchers alike struggle with is “why”, but they show up every day to face the same fight again, celebrating every success they encounter and persevering through the challenges. I’m honoured to be even a small part of this battle with my own literal fight on June 1st. Princess Margaret Hospital is one of the top 5 cancer research centers in the world and it’s support from events like this that help their researchers to continue the fight to Conquer Cancer in Our Lifetime! Every dollar we raise at the Fight to End Cancer will go towards the researchers at PMH achieving this goal.
The next 7 months of my training are going to be both exciting and challenging, and it will be worth all the hard work to kick (or more appropriately, punch) cancer’s butt! Thank you so much for your support!

Community, I need your support
To be FEARLESS. At a younger age, this was something I imagined about the person I wanted to become. A few more years of life helped me realize how silly that was – and impossible! Strange noises at night still terrify me. The thought of losing someone important terrifies me even more. I realize that my fears are part of who I am, and that there is nothing wrong with being afraid. It’s what makes us human.
I also came to realize that strength is built from having those fears, listening to them, and, if the opportunity arises, tackling them head-on. But reality is, we can’t anticipate every scary situation; and that’s where resilience kicks in.
I have been shown the meaning of resilience by incredible people in my life. I think of friends and family, who manage to crack a joke even in the midst of discomfort or pain; who maintain faith & hope even in the face of bad news. These are the human moments that leave me in awe. They also leave me wondering: could you do the same? What are you made of?
I don’t have answers to those questions. What I do know is that I am about to step way out of my comfort zone, and into an intense period of training to get me ready for the ring. I have the 8th annual Fight to End Cancer in support of the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation to thank for this, my chance to honor resilience.
There is going to be a lot of sweat, and if I’m being honest, definite tears on this ride. But while on the night of June 1, 2019, my fight will be over, the bigger fight won’t be… and that’s where YOU come in!
Please consider funding my sweat & tears. This is your opportunity to join a committed community of people supporting those who have fought, are fighting, and will fight cancer. We all need the Princess Margaret Foundation to have the fuel to keep being awesome. Help me show them some (long-lasting, big impact) love.
Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Cancer impacts us all. I lost two uncles to this terrible disease a few years back. Many of my close friends have similar stories of losing family and friends to cancer.
More recently my mom battled breast cancer. Her tremendous strength, positive attitude and support of family and friends, along with the wonderful care from her medical personnel, have her cancer free and continuing to live her active lifestyle. There is no doubt that the donations put towards advancements in treatments made in fighting this disease assisted my mom in her victorious battle.
I will continue my long time support of cancer fund raising events, this time stepping IN the ring. I will be leveraging my leadership status and network to support this worthy cause. I have always been active in competitive sports and will be pushing myself to fight to make a difference for others fighting for their lives.
I am honoured to have been selected as a member of the FTEC2019 fight team. My goal is to raise money and awareness for the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation. All of the money raised for my fight will go to help Princess Margaret find cure and help them fight and conquer Cancer.
I need your help in this fight. I will be dedicating my time and efforts to training for more than 7 months to prepare for this fight at the gala event night. I need your help to raise $10,000 to support research at The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation.
Help me win the fight against cancer and create more happy endings through successful battles against cancer!

Initially, my fight was dedicated to my mom. But she’s a really tough lady – one of a kind, and thank God, she was able to fight Cancer and kick it’s ass. She’s doing great today. Healthy and strong.
But up until recently, I met someone who’s just as strong as my mom, who experienced this battle at a different level. Her name is Mara. She lost her husband at a very young age… the age I will be, when I step into the ring. They were a beautiful family. But when I found out that he lost his life to this terrible disease, I decided to FIGHT for him….my fight will be dedicated to you Sergio.
I knew him only with the occasional hello. But I feel his presence… his strength…his love…the fight he had in him. Mara, who was with him through this battle, told me he was a loving father and husband and great friend to all that knew him. Even in his last days, he brought so much joy and laughter to all. Remaining positive to his last day. It really saddens and angers me that her family had to endure this pain and for Sergio to have gone through so much… he fought to the end. I’m taking this fight over for Sergio.
“It ain’t how hard you can hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done.” These words Sergio truly believed and lived by….
On June 1st, 2019, my opponent will be Cancer.
So please help me fight this battle for Sergio!!
