Words From Fight To End Cancer Fighter: Rick Dhillon
It was November 1st, 2011, a painful day in the intensive care unit of Trilium Hospital. I was holding my older brothers hand and the small room was packed with all the people I love. My hero, my best friend, my blood was attached to a life support machine. I can remember the feeling of his cold hand as I was trying to warm it up. I wanted to cry but my family was watching and if I broke down they would break down even harder than they already were. I was the older brother now and had to be strong like he would have been. I can never fill his shoes, but I try.
That was the end of our human journey together but the beginning of our spiritual one. As I cry in silence, I can hear him comfort me and when I question my choices, I feel him guiding me.
Cancer tried to take away our bond but it only made us stronger, so F you cancer! As he guides my hand, our goal is to leave the world a happier place.
Thank you Fight To End Cancer (FTEC) for giving us the platform to do something about this disease. It is nice not to feel helpless anymore. I watched my brother fight for 13 months and I couldn’t do anything to help. It is not a good feeling. I love you FTEC for what you stand for, I love you for helping me fight and I certainly love you for helping me develop this mean right hook :).
I love all those that donated their hard earned money to help me fight. All I have is love for FTEC.
