No stranger to providing superior health care to those in need, COREptw head up by husband and wife team Dr. Chris and Dr. Tara Michailidis, have their own mission: “To serve the community and our clients by providing healing, performance, and wellness solutions for the mind, body and soul”.
When asked if they would be a part of the Fight to End Cancer event, with zero hesitation they put up their gloves. If you’re attending this years gala at The Old Mill Toronto, be sure to look out for COREptw services featured in our silent auction.
For Dr. Chris it was a personal reason driving him to contribute:
“My grandparents immigrated to Canada from Greece and Malta after the second war, with “30 cents in their pockets,” as my grandfather used to say. Canada gave my grandparents an opportunity to make a better life for them, their kids, and all of their future offspring. Luckily, my grandmother is still alive, but unfortunately 3 of my grandparents passed away from Cancer.
I witnessed and felt the suffering that my grandparents went through, and also the suffering that our family went through, feeling helpless and sad. My grandparents played a big role in raising me and the rest of my cousins and there isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t have a thought about them.
As sad as I was to lose my grandparents, I was always grateful that we were in Canada, receiving care from our great Toronto doctors and hospitals. I’m not sure how the experience would have been anywhere else, but I have comfort in knowing that in Canada they received top level care, and fought their battle in one of the best arenas out there.
I’m fighting to end cancer, to honour my grandparents, myself, my children and my future grandchildren, and to help support the extraordinary effort Canadians are making to end cancer.”
